How To Rewind Your Age: 7 Steps
By Carol Biondo
7 Steps to Rewinding Your Age and Looking and Feeling Great!

1. Drink to your health and complexion: Drink 8 or more glasses of fresh pure water each day. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs and carries nutrients to your cells. Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions.

2. Get enough sleep: Sleep is a time when the body rests, rejuvenates, replenishes, and regenerates. Hormone levels peak at night and cell repair takes place. That means any damage that has been done to the skin that could contribute to premature aging is repaired here. Sleep is also responsible for dissolving free radicals - notorious for their contribution to early aging.
The most unfortunate side effect of sleep debt is the fact that it ages our skin more rapidly. Not only does it prevent the body from rejuvenating and repairing skin, it has been shown that a chronic lack of sleep, results in higher stress hormone levels like cortisol that cause premature aging and also leave us more vulnerable to diseases that cause early aging such as hypertension.

3. Use sunscreen on a daily basis: Experts attribute much of what we consider aging not to passing years but to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which breaks down the skin’s elastin and collagen. Use skin care that has sunscreen in it.

4. Stop making those faces: Grimacing, wincing, puckering, and smiling causes wrinkles around the eyes and lips. While I won’t dream of telling you to stop smiling, there are a few things you can do to minimize those expressions lines. If you squint because of poor vision or bright sun, start wearing corrective glasses or sunglasses. If you drink out of a straw (you pucker), throw it away and start drinking out of a glass, and if you smoke here are two more reasons to quit; not only do the toxins in cigarette smoke damage your skin, but you squint every time you take a drag!

5. Don’t forget your vitamins: It is well know that diet effects

skin. Nutrient deficiencies can make your complexion lifeless, blotchy, and excessively dry or oily. Servings of 9-13 fruits, veggies, and whole grains a day…every day can help your skin feel young and resilient and give you the nutrients you need to stay healthy; however in a national survey of 21,500 people, not a single person consumed the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. And finally…it’s unanimous, after decades; the American Medical Association does a 180 degree turn. Everybody is now “under doctor’s orders” to supplement. The Journal of the American Medical Association, June 19, 2002 states; “We recommend that ALL ADULTS take a multi-vitamin daily.”

6. Exercise regularly: Moderate activity, brisk walking, cycling, or swimming stimulates blood flow to the tiny blood vessels that nourish the skin. It also raises your skin’s temperature, which helps increase collagen production. As people age collagen degradation occurs, leading to wrinkles. As such, it is an important substance for those looking for ways to fight the visible effects of aging on the skin. Use skincare that stimulates the production of collagen in skins cells.

7. Rethink the way you wash your face: Soap can age your skin by drying it out. It strips the skin of the moisture and leaves a residue even after rinsing several times. Your skin begins to look dull and blah. Use a cleanser formulated for your skin type. Cleanse and moisturize your eyes, face, and neck in the morning, protecting it from the free radicals that will damage your skin, and again before you retire for the night. Your skin is in a rest and repair state at night…HELP IT!

Here’s to looking and feeling younger!
