If you have a large yard, a wonderful addition to your outdoor décor is a sleigh. This can be a sleigh that was once actually used to pull people around for sleigh rides, or a decorative one in a Santa theme.

If you are interested in an actual antique sleigh as an outdoor decoration, the first stop should be your local antique dealer. It does not matter if they do not happen to specialize in sleighs; they should be able to at least put you in the right direction.

In the eastern United States, it is rather common to see traditional sleighs not just as an outdoor decoration, but also as a lawn decoration throughout the year. For example, in the warmer months the sleigh can be decorated with flower barrels.

Of course, the internet is a Popular place to go for antiques, and it is very possible that you might be able to find an antique sleigh online. However, if you do choose to purchase a sleigh online, it is very important that you make sure you purchase the sleigh from a reputable website.

If you would rather forgo the traditional antique sleigh as an outdoor decoration,

you can also get a basic symbolic Santa sleigh. These sleighs come in a variety of different sizes and designs. However, an interesting design is the lighted animated sleigh.

Specifically, this sleigh, as well as the optional Santa figure, is made out of white wiring. This wiring is illuminated by lights, much like the lights of a tree. When plugged into an outdoor light socket, this outdoor decoration will move!

An important thing to keep in mind when using this kind of decoration in your yard is that it is very important to have the outdoor light socket that was previously mentioned. Some people do not have this option, and as such they will be unable to illuminate this particular kind of decoration.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the outdoor electrical socket must be up to code, in order to prevent a fire. However, with the proper research and planning, you will have a beautifully decorated yard for the holiday season. Your yard will also be the envy of all your neighbors!
