The verses Linus is quoting are Luke 2:8 – 14.

    Indeed I am! ;)

And even still–the same way Dawkins says he likes some Christmas carols, even though he obviously don’t like the religion…

In that same way, while it never was my religion, being Jewish, and the Bible isn’t my book and I don’t buy the religion at all…

Linus’ speech is still good, and what Christmas should be about (granted it was invented as a way to bring in the pagans and continues as a money-making scheme, but anyway…even OFF WEbDip, long post–Shakespeare!) ;)

People, we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus on December 25th because we really don’t know when he was born but they say that he was born on the winter season so why not celebrate His birth on a winter day?!! Christmas is all about joy because the Saviour came to change everything :) Praise the Lord!

If it was really just about Jesus then Easter would be the big holiday, however, there’s just something that speaks to the best in human nature that we choose the darkest part of the year to celebrate light and hope. It’s fine if you want to make Jesus the way you celebrate, but it really goes beyond that

  12. sammyhain13

That’s the thing. The power of Christmas to bring joy, hope, charity and dreams goes far beyond any religion. Christians, Pagans, and Secularists all feel its importance. That is its true power

I’m a pagan, so I can tell you that yes it’s a holiday on our calendar

Except that for my family it’s about the rebirth of the Sun God
