Many will have experienced a reduction in their pay or experience one spouse or another losing a job. However, many companies will be desperate for customers so they will slash prices to make their merchandise more affordable. For toys in particular there are some interesting trends reflecting this. This holiday season look for some old toys to make a huge comeback. The reason why some toys are classics is that they have a proven track record in good times and bad. A great example is popular board games like Monopoly and Clue. There are also toys brands such as Barbie that continue to sell. Also look for hot toys from previous holidays such as Bop It or Nerf Guns. Also be warned, Elmo like other Christmases will still be popular so try to order it in advance or online to avoid crowds.

This holiday also began the tradition of gift giving that we have today.

This Christmas parents are looking for ways to help their kids to believe in Santa Clause. Right now, many kids are more skeptical of the tradition and will have to be told the story either at an earlier age or have a special encounter that would convince them that he exists. Tell your kids the story of Santa. Your kids may not know the origin story for Santa. Having them know the story is a great way for them to know more about Santa and see him as a real person. There are several books that you can choose from. In my opinion the two best stories on Santa is the famous poem, It was the Night Before Christmas and Frank Baum’s The Life and Adventures of Santa Clause. These are not only great holiday stories but will help explain who he is and why he does certain things when he visits the homes of children every Christmas.
