She said she decided to give back to the her community because of Robbi Zakowski’s efforts to fight domestic violence. Zakowski said the idea for the craft show came from Paulette Propst who was slain in her New Lyme Township home, by her estranged husband, four years ago. Zakowski works with Women Helping Women to create mandatory GPS ankle bracelet restraining orders and also raises funds for surveillance cameras and dead bolts for women in danger. The craft show includes indoor and outdoor vendors from Cleveland to Pennsylvania with a variety of quality crafts. Teresa Williams said she supports the group because it is so important in light of what is happening in society today. “It has been terrible this year with so many deaths,” she said. Williams, and her husband Bob, are part of the Concerned Motorcycle Riders of Ohio Region 13 and the organization donates a portion of their raffle profits to the cause of fighting domestic abuse. While roaming the craft show Williams said she made good use of her time. “We got some things for my grandchildren,” she said. In addition to raising funds for the cause Zakowski said working with legislatures to change existing laws regarding restraining orders is an integral part of the cause. She said she works with area law makers to eventually facilitate change. “We are getting close… “It is a slow wheel that turns. It takes time to change the laws,” she said. Zakowski said it is important to get the word out so women will feel the ability to come forward. Laurie Hejduk, a craft vendor from Madison, said she enjoys the event. “It is a very nice show they have here,” she said. The show is held at Fullercrest Farm on Windsor Mechanicsville Road. Zakowski said the show could grow but parking becomes an issue; especially in a weekend long rain would hit the area. We have sent a confirmation email to {* emailAddressData *}.
